Weekly point-of-sale transactions fall 3.3% in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: The total value of point-of-sale transactions in the Kingdom fell 3.3 percent to SR10 billion ($2.7 billion) in the week ending Nov. 6 compared to SR10.3 billion in the previous week, the Saudi Central Bank said.

According to the SAMA’s weekly report, the number of transactions slid slowly by 0.3 percent. Data showed the decline was steepest for the beverage and food sector, followed by the health sector.

Meanwhile, the value of PoS transactions for hotels saw an upswing of 6.7 percent, while jewelry transactions’ value recorded a rise of 8.3 percent during the week.
