When Hawaii reopened after seven months of lockdown and mandatory quarantining on October 15, I booked my flight to the Island of Hawaii (also known as the “the Big Island”), the state’s largest, most ecologically diverse island, with eight of 13 of the world’s climate zones and a few active volcanoes.
